Reminders:
Box Tops-a sheet to collect box tops to help our school came home in mailboxes today.
Halloween-The Halloween parade to the Laurels will be around 1pm. More information will be coming home about the parade and our party in the next few weeks. While planning ahead, please keep in mind that clown costumes will not be allowed this year. Also, no costumes that are not school appropriate (no blood).
Postcards-Please email our note about Postcards to your family and friends...copy from below :)
-"Hello! My child's 3rd grade class is studying the 50 states of our country. They would love to receive a postcard from each state. They would also love to receive postcards from many different locations in Michigan. If you are able, please send a postcard to their class. Including a fact about your state/city on the postcard would make it extra special. Please be sure to include your name and the child who you are sending the postcard to. Please mail the postcards to Park Elementary, Attn: 3rd Grade-Mrs. Mutschler, 5525 Park Ave. Hudsonville, MI 49426. Thank you!”
Ask your child about:
-What is happening in the book Edward Tulane? How is he changing as a character?
-How do you use the 9 trick for multiplication?
-How is peer editing a helpful tool for fixing up your writing?
What we learned this week:
Writing-
I can use correct punctuation in my writing.
I can edit and revise my writing for clarity.
Math-
I can build fluency with multiplication of 5, 2, 10, 9, and 3.
I can write and solve multiplication equations.
Reading-
I can choose books so that I always have a good fit book ready to read.
I can share my reading life with a reading partner.
Science-
I can show what I know about plant adaptations. Graded quiz came home on Thursday. Students need to show scores to parents when they get a graded test. It will have a note if it needs to be signed and returned (we always do this with Math Unit tests).
Have a great weekend! Enjoy the crisp fall air! Is it too early to carve pumpkins?? I have a one year old who may love the seeds and guts!
