Dear Families,
Welcome to the wonderful time of year where our schedules are filled with events and activities, our homes are a bit more cozy, and our school is buzzing with the excitement of the Holidays. We have so many exciting things coming up this month. I will try to keep you updated with weekly updates, so make sure to keep checking back!
Reminders:
Christmas Party-Our Christmas Party will take place on Wednesday, Dec. 21st. We will do holiday activities throughout the day, and parents are welcome for treats and games at the end of the day from 2:45-3:45.
Holiday Hope-WOW! We have so many families willing to donate and shop for our family in need this season. THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU! This will be a great chance to show students how great it is to give rather than receive. Our shopping day is Monday, Dec. 12 at 6:30pm. We will meet at the Target in Grandville. I will give you more guidance about what to buy when we meet in the lobby. Students can bring wrapping paper/ribbons on Tuesday, Dec. 13 with them to school for our wrapping party.
Christmas Program-Tuesday, Dec. 13-Fellowship Church 7:30pm-Students will meet in our assigned room in the basement of the church. You are then welcome to find a place to sit for the program. I know we are all looking forward to watching the students perform!
Store Donations-If you are willing to send in donations for our store, we are grateful as 3rd grade teachers! We welcome donations of candy (suckers, individual size pieces), cans of soda, and small trinkets.
Spelling-Today we had our first "practice" spelling test. IF students received a 100%, they do not need to practice spelling next week. They may complete their "Race to 100" by next Friday if they would like.
What we learned this week:
Writing-
I can research a topic for informational writing.
I can organize my research into topics.
Math-
I can measure to the nearest 1/4 inch.
I can create a line plot using fractions.
I can measure units of volume.
Reading-
I can make predictions based on my characters.
I can revise my predictions as I learn more.
Science-
I can understand gravity.
I can understand force.
Social Studies-
I can read a map using cardinal directions.
I can find coordinates on a graph.
Have a great weekend!
