Dear Families,
The end of the year brings many events and special celebrations. It also brings a ton of year end evaluations and tests. I've been so impressed with our class and how well they are showing what they know and working hard despite the distraction of beautiful weather. Thank you for keeping up with the agenda and homework. We are still working hard here at school, even though summer is close enough we can taste it!
Reminders-
Field Trip-We will head to Kirk Park next week Thursday, May 31. Many of you plan to meet us there which will be a lot of fun. I'm hoping for a beautiful day!! If you are meeting us at the park, please bring a camera, sack lunch and sunscreen/bugspray for yourself. You will be leading a small group of students around the park doing a "photo scavenger hunt" and exploring the park. I will hand out instructions when we arrive and settle at the park!
Health Video- On Friday, May 25 the fourth grade classes will be dividing into two groups to watch the health video. The boys will be viewing the video with Mr. Field and the girls with the female teachers. This will be happening at 3:10. A form should have come home today if you would rather your child opt out of the video. I always like to give advance notice so that you can begin speaking to your child about how his/her body will begin change. If you would like to see what your child will be watching you can view it at http://www.pgschoolprograms.com/parents.php.
This is also a great time to start your child with deodorant if you haven’t already. Bodies are changing, temps are increasing, and we are noticing a lot of body odor this spring. To alleviate anxiety about body changes please encourage your child to shower regularly and to begin wearing deodorant.
Field Day (Sack Lunch)-Your child should have also come home with a field day sack lunch form today. This is for the district wide 4th and 5th grade field day on June 5. Students may purchase a sack lunch from our food service department. They will put together the lunches and deliver them to the field at lunch time. If your student is not ordering a lunch from school he/she will need to bring one from home. Due to a strict schedule we are asking that parents not bring a lunch to their child. Parents are welcome to attend, however. Additional information will be coming home at a later date. All lunch forms are due by Friday, May 29.
What we learned this week-
Reading-
I can interpret and analyze the books I've read so far this year.
I can think deeper about themes across multiple books.
Writing-
I can show what I know about informational writing. (Writing On-Demand)
Science-
I can find different ways to change the rate of erosion.
Math-
I can review conversion methods.
I can show what I know about customary and metric measurement. (Unit 5 test taken today 5/18-will be returning home next week)
Have a wonderful weekend!
