Dear Families,
Students have been working hard on their reading projects and are excited to share them with you next week Thursday, March 1st. We will have our reading night here at school from 5:30-6:30. Parents, grandparents or other special adults in your child's life are welcome to come and tour the projects. A paper invitation is coming home today with more information. We will also have literary essays out for you to read.
Reminders-
Tubes and Boxes-For Science next week, so need a variety of cardboard tubes and small cardboard boxes. If you have any lying around at home, will you please send them with your child next week Monday? Thank you!
Reading Project Night-Thursday, March 1st. Students will come down at 5:30 and parents will come in to look at projects at 5:45.
Ask your child about-
-What more do you need to accomplish with your reading project?
-What did you learn about the brain this week in Science?
-How are you feeling about the new fractions unit in math? Do you find it difficult to compare fractions with different denominators?
What we learned this week-
Reading-
I can show what I've researched in a project format.
I can take notes on nonfiction reading topics.
Writing-
I can write an opinion on demand piece to show all of my learning during the essay units.
I can show what I know about information writing (this is our next writing unit).
Science-
I can identify internal and external animal structures.
I can revise a model with more explanation.
Math-
I can compare fractions with different denominators.
I can compare fractions of different size wholes.
