Good Afternoon,
We are really starting to get into the swing of things in 3rd grade. We are working hard to build our stamina in every subject and learning the routines of our day. The class is doing so well, and learning great things already!
Reminders:
Picture day-Friday-Sept. 23-Forms came home today for Pictures. Please send back the info and mark your calendars. Kids- slick your hair back and practice that cheery smile :)
Color the Park-Friday-Sept. 23-I'm looking forward to throwing some color on those of you who are participating in the Color the Park-Walk/Run/Stroll! See you there!! 5pm
Agendas-Thank you for helping build responsibility and initialing your child's agenda each night or morning AFTER their homework is complete. Please encourage your child to remind YOU to sign, rather than the other way around.
Homework-Comes home on Tuesday night and is due Thursday. This will be a green sheet. Way to go, everyone had their homework turned in by Thursday this week!! Thank you for helping to clean out folders each night and returning the home folder each day.
Can Drive-Sept. 26-Please save your cans for our 5th grade can drive. This helps raise money for 5th graders to go to camp. Send bags of cans in with your student and they can work to fill the cans for our classroom.
What to ask your child about:
-What is the Constitution? (Constitution Day is this Saturday, we celebrated by learning about the Constitution and taking the great 3rd Grade Picture above)
-What happens when you put M&Ms in water? Why is it true that they "melt in your mouth, not in your hand"?
-What makes a good personal narrative?
-How do you choose a "good fit" book? We learned the "IPICK" strategy
If your child ever needs a refresher on the strategy for choosing good fit books...
I-I choose a book
P-Purpose- What purpose does is serve?
I-Interest-Does the topic interest me?
C-Comprehend-Do I understand what is happening in the book?
K-Know-Do I know most of the words? (5 finger trick)
I hope you have a great weekend! Go Eagles!
