What a week! We enjoyed sharing our writing with you at the Writer's Feast on Tuesday. Please enjoy pictures below this post. Also, please make sure to check out your child's results on the Geography test which came home in backpacks today. As always, Friday math boxes are graded and coming home today to be checked over. We will test on Unit 3 in math early next week.
Reminders-
Christmas Program-December 12-Students to be in room at Fellowship Church at 7:15pm. 3rd through 5th grade program starts at 7:30 and should be finished around 8:10. Please pick up your child in the same room in basement. Looking forward to this great event!
Gingerbread Houses-We will make gingerbread houses on Thursday 12/21 in the morning. I will send out more info about what we will be collecting.
Christmas Reader's Theater Performance-Parents are welcome to attend Reader's Theater performances on Wednesday 12/20. More information will be coming soon with times and details!
Christmas Party-THURSDAY 12/21 in the afternoon. Parents are welcome to attend for games and snacks from 2:30-3:30. I will send reminders home about who is contributing what to the party in the next few days.
Reading Celebration-On Friday 12/22 we will have a movie viewing of Chronicles of Narnia-The Lion, The Witch, and the Wardrobe as we read the book aloud in class and students asked to watch the movie together. The movie is rated PG-please let me know if you are not comfortable with this viewing.
Ask your child about-
-What is immigration? How was Ellis Island important during the 1800s?
-How did you feel sharing your writing at the feast? Were you proud of the final product?
-What do you think you will write about for your opinion essay during the next unit?
-Are you understanding long division? What method do you use?
-What is happening in your book currently? Analyze the characters and tell me a little about them.
What we learned this week-
Reading-
Using the Chronicles of Narnia- The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe book-reviewing our reading strategies-predicting, inferring, summarizing, and analyzing
Writing-
I can generate ideas for an opinion essay.
Social Studies-
I can describe push and pull factors.
I can understand immigration from other countries to the USA.
Math-(Unit 3 Test on Monday)
I can solve long division problems using any method.
